Paypal suing Pandora for using the letter 'P'

You know, I always get so confused when I can't play music from my paypal app and can't pay for things with my pandora app /s

But yes, apparently Paypal thinks this is hurting their customers somehow...

Also icons compete for screen real estate regardless of what they look like, so I fail to see how the following argument has any bearing whatsoever...

One of the requirements for keeping/holding a copyright is protecting that copyright (otherwise you will lose the copyright). This means you have to sue people/companies for (potentially) infringing on your copyright.

Yes, however the icons are only marginally similar, not the same exact logo. When my copyrights are approved, however, I would never jump on someone else who has the same letter.

Well now it's up to the judge to decide and once that is decided, which ever way it goes is alright for PayPal as they know they wont lose the copyright because of Pandora.

It's not only the letter, it's also the fact that the darkest shade of blue and lightest shade of blue are shared across both logos.

So this means Apple can sue Microsoft because they put their logo in the center of their devices, and their devices are silver, satin finished rectangles with rounded edges? And the say 'Book' and 'Pro' on the end.

Probably not, this suit looks like it's a scare tactic against those that are actually violating Paypal's copyrights. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a proverbial kiss and make up between everyone involved the nanosecond it was over.
