Synergy - difference between my free version and the paid version?

Synergy was free back in like 2011 or whenever and i noticed now linus has synergy ads where you can apparently buy synergy so just wondering whats the difference?

i mean thats what i assumed but it looks like you can still download it easily on pages like cnet but thats probably not exactly 'legal' or whatever?

The free version dosen't have encryption.the cnet version is the legal free version i belive
