New ball head for joby gorilla pod SLR zoom

So I have a joby gorilla pod SLR zoom with the native ball head it comes with I am trying to replace the ball head so I can use my peak design capture plate and micro plate with it. I wanted to know which tripod head people would recommend that is acra swiss and cheap. I'm going to try and use this tripod only on a trip to NYC in a few weeks instead of bringing my mefoto backpacker tripod. Love that ball head but it won't come off :(

Any ballhead will probably be sufficent as long it carries the weight of your gear. Personally I have a Sirui one but I looked a lot a Benro before I bought and all theirs seems pretty damn solid. They should come with arca swiss plates but check to be certain.

Also want to add, I'd bring your large tripod aswell. I was in NYC earlier this year and I'm very happy I also brought a full size tripod (or "brought" I bought one at B&H the first day pretty much). The small one is good, but for any more ambitious shoots I'd try and carry along a larger one. (I actually used a tripod at "the top of the rock" before getting yelled at. Managed to get 2 longexposures though that is noise free at ISO 100 in the middle of the night there so was worth it hehe.

There is also high railings in a lot of places where it is hard to fixate a gorrilapod. (It often works but it sucks those times it doesnt).

I do own a gorrilapod myself but rarley use it anymore as I preffer a small travel tripod with a nice ballhead and longer sturdier legs.

Now, I don't know the weight of your gear but this is something I'd look at as you will need a quite small head for the gorrillapod. And I also doubt you want to shell out with more than 150-200USD for a head for the gorrillapod.

You should also consider the weight of the ballhead itself and the strain that puts on the already pretty frail gorillapod legs. Perhaps look through amazon for an arca swiss quick release plate instead that would adapt a 1/4 thread to arca rather than replacing the ballhead altogether.
