Random spikes on fan header that uses a Y splitter

I have a fan header that uses a Y splitter so I can connect and control 2 fans however I'm getting random spikes (Both from AIDA64 and SpeedFan). I can still control both fans though so that's good. Using only 1 fan shows no sign of random spikes. It can't be that my fan header is struggling to give out the proper Amps as I can set the fans to 100% and see them spinning indefinitely. Visually inspecting the fans shows they're running consistently at whatever speed I set them at even if there are random spikes happening. I think it's the Y splitter causing faulty readings?
