best cpu/motherboard for gaming

currently have the i5 4690k.

debating if i should wait for the coffeelake next gen cpu or upgrade to the i5 7600k or ryzen 7 1700x (local microcenter  has a great deal on the 1700x)

any suggestions on motherboards would be fantastic.

im thinking the gkill rgb ram would be a great add on for my thermaltake p3 case.

thanks!

If you are going with Ryzen and want a cheap mobo, the MSI PC Mate is your best bet. Pretty much any decent mobo from MSI or Asus will be good, as well as Gigabyte. IDK much about ASrock, but I think they're pretty good.

i would sell the i5-4690K and get a slightly used i7-4790K...it performs very similar to a 6700k/7700k in games and it would cost you A LOT less...

Don't upgrade to new gen i5, makes no sense. Either get R5 1600 if you want something in the i5 range or go for R7 1700/i7 7700k.

Or just get i7 4790k, OC it and call it a day,

At least on PCPartPicker, it's the cheapest ATX mobo with a B350 chipset, decent I/O, and good looks.

EDIT: Here, gaze upon it's beauty (and it's only $90 and has USB C):

The AB350 Pro4 is cheaper and has a better VRM, better IO, and supports XMP profiles as well. Is the recommendation just based on looks?

Oh wait @Zando Bob, does it can take the weight of a 1070 minimum?

PCPartpicker isn't parsing rebates correctly. OutletPC and SuperBiiz are more expensive than Newegg as well due to shipping. It's only the cheapest if you use SPRING15 on Jet.
