Will it bottleneck

Hello im looking to upgrade my i3 6100 gtx 960 system that i built last year to a i5 7500 and a gtx 1070. Im wondering if the i5 will bottleneck the 1070.

Depends on the game and resolution. The word bottleneck gets thrown around a lot.

 

But I will say this... it's not the ideal pairing.

It should not bottle neck, but if you do video editing and stuuf or play cpu intensive games then you might wanna better cpu.

its going to be a bottleneck at 1080p and probably 1440p aswell

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

what about a 6600k and the 1070, the overclocking would give you a little more headroom?

Since they have a 6100, chances are they don't have a mobo that supports OCing

Don't upgrade to i5, not worth it IMO

still not convinced by the i7 for gaming.... even though i went out to get a 6700k i just don't see the value in the extra cost unless you can really make use of the HT
