This is through wireless and I have no say in what internet plan we have, so the upload especially is pretty horrible.

I'm in Northern Ireland on AOL, paying for upto 10Mb down ( the actual maxium I can achieve on my line is 8Mb). I challenge you to do worse.

I pay for 50/25 with verizon fios in the US. I think the high ping might be due to my terrible router.

120/10Mbps(that's what I'm paying for) + unlimited calls(Europe) + 144 TV channels(most of them in HD; HBO, Canal+ and Orange Sports that airs wrestling/mma PPVs for free) for ~$60.

+1 for UPC :) I also have UPC Internet here in Romania and it's pretty much 100-120mbps down with (unfortunately only) 6mbps up.

After a bit of detective work I found out that I couldn't improve the upload speed in this house without drawing completely new cables, which I'm sure wouldn't be expensive at all. Well at least I can drop the ping by using power line.
