well thats wrong since the packages they do are either 38/10 and 76/20.

Oh right I though it was 38/20 & 78/40. Well I'm paying for the 38/10 but the speed speaks for itself, I can show you my bill if you still don't believe me.

EDIT: Ok this is last months bill with some personal details erased of course.

As you can see I pay £14.99 for my broadband which is their 38/10 package.

He may not be getting the full speed for whatever reason.

BT and Plusnet are completely different companies. BT own all the infastructure and rent it out to other companies (in this case, plusnet) for a lower price per line that what a consumer would get as Plusnet would rent a very large number of lines.

You are wrong about the price too. Pusnet 76mbit+weekend calls is £10 for the first 6 months and £20 a month from there. The equivalent BT package (76mbit, weekend calls) is £26 per month, only for the first 12 months. I can't find what it is after, so one would assume it would be quite a bit more expensive.

Another thing you to pay for is line rental - for plusnet this is £16 a month and for BT it is £17 a month.

Overall you pay £26 per month for plusnet for the first 6 months and £36 after. For BT you pay £43 a month for the first 12 months and more after the first 12 months.

Also included in the cheaper price is support that doesn't suck and is based in England rather than India. I got what I wanted first time and within 20 mins calling plusnet support but my friend who uses BT still hasn't got his issue fixed, 3 months later.

See above.

erm...... yes bt own plusnet...... google it....... they acquired the company in 2007.

Just because they own it doesn't mean that they do anything in it. I could own 2 restaurants and get money from both, but that doesn't mean I make all the decisions about the restaurants. They are acting as two very different companies, not the same company with different display names.

It's not. Have you ever tried to get anything done with BT's support. It takes an age to even get the right person and the waiting times are horrible, whereas plusnet are super helpful and have 10 min waiting times. Plusnet support are based in yourshiree, UK where BT support is based in india somewhere.

I know BT own Plusnet. IT DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE THE SAME COMPANY. Facebook bought Oculus, is Oculus now the same company as Facebook?

Well there's something wrong because it's supposed to be 100 down 6 up and you only get 80? I bet you're using wireless or homeplugs.
