Looks interesting, nice way to show off your GPU coolers in a separate chamber. As usual with Lian-Li cases peasants not welcome, just the case costs $400.

 

Limited height on the CPU coolers (75mm max) - Looks like they expect liquid cooling with space for a 360 top radiator and a 280 in the front.

 

Only support for 2 expansion cards despite fitting E-ATX and ATX.

 

HDMI on the front panel to cater for the VR market.

muh specs 

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Thats a sexy case, though its not got much of a market. SLI/Crossfire is getting more rare now days and the cost of the case is even high considering high end cases.

That just means the connector and protocol they used has changed, physically it's still 'fingers' ontop of the cards that need to be connected.

I remember seeing a design similar to this but m-ATX, may have been a kickstarter project.

Ya I know, they currently use it on the Quadro P100. It's offers stackable memory, unlike SLI, amongst much better scalability.

Well, they certainly took the Dancase A4 design as inspiration. Lian Li are masters at manufacturing, but their design department is third grade at this point. When Dancase and Ncase designs nicer cases, somethings wrong. And when an inspired design from those are uglier, then it's just a fail. Interesting idea, poor execution.

 

Dancase is coming with a V2 at the end of this month, and even windowed side panels (sadly acrylic, and not glass. Not good enough @dondan ).

I'm pretty sure some dude this a custom case with this same layout and it was far more expensive. Hopefully he got paid at least something by them for taking his concept?

 

Paying someone like 4000 bucks so they'll produce your prototype case only to have them lift your concept for themselves it's just not cool Lian li.

You probably mean only crossfire unless you special order a flexible high bandwidth SLI bridge that somehow fits or a really long one so you don't basically ruin the looks and the entire purpose of this case by crossing in front of one of the gpus

I am guessing it will require some new tech in the motherboard which will probably help scaling and issues involved currently. But this new tech will make it proprietary to nvidia NVlink motherboards making a divide between them and AMD boards.

Well it doesn't with the Quadro P100. I would hope it wouldn't since it is through a bridge instead of on board interface like the Tesla has an option for.

Yes this case only supports Crossfire, but my comment was just a general statement that multi GPU systems are even less common than they were before. Just saying that the market for a case that even wants a multi GPU system is small, and shrinking all the time. Though saying on top of that that it would only work on an AMD system (unless nvlink happens on consumer cards) would mean that an even SMALLER subset would want to use this case.

 

Just commenting that this case looks amazing, but im seriously struggling to figure out who would even want this. High end systems (like ones that would go in this) would generally go for the best performance, which right now would be Nvidia GPUs in SLI, which it doesnt support.

 

EDIT: assuming a consumer wants this, if they were doing something like cuda acceleration on workstation grade stuff, it would still be good i suppose. But it would be a strange case for a workstation anyway.
