Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

that's partially true, but mostly true for older devices. nowadays laptops are very resilient to damage like that.

so yeah, it is safe to use a laptop while it is charging.

Whoever told you is stupid... Everyone uses their laptops while charges. Most of them have protection in case something does "happen".

It's not going to do any harm to use a laptop while it's charging. It may heat up a bit more, but that's fine (as long as it stays reasonable).

Y520 user here. Charging while using the laptop will not damage the battery
I recommend using conservation mode in Lenovo Settings if you always use your laptop with the AC adapter
