Is this a good deal for an 840 Evo?

I found a deal for a 500 GB 840 Evo for $100. I've seen a few 850 Evo's go for around $140-150 so I was wondering if the 840 was a good deal or pay $40-50 more for the performance increase of an 850?

It's a 4 year old drive if im not wrong, I'd strongly suggest you get the newer one if you can.
