1080ti SLI?

BlackHat2000
Go to solution Solved by Frankenburger,

Honest question. What is your goal with 1080Ti SLI? Also, do you take it upon yourself to configure or tweak drivers to suit your needs?

It's safe to say that a 1080Ti SLI system is pretty future proof. The problem right now is their performance bracket is so high that even at 4k, SLI scaling is held back by CPU/RAM bottlenecks. If the game you'd be playing was already using max graphics settings, then you can improve scaling by increasing the GPU load by using driver forced AA and/or DSR. However, if you don't care much for tweaking drivers or using DSR and prefer maximum FPS, then I'd wait for the big boy Volta.

I've been planning to go SLI on these cards but it seems more questionable after seeing benchmarks on it. But, it seems that SLI isn't a good idea because the cards are apparently they are better off by themselves?

i doubt theyre better off alone, but cmon. is there really any point? you can already max out almost every game in 4k

One is enough, unless you're trying to do 4k 144hz or something like that.

Save your money and upgrade when the 1180ti comes out, less of a waste.

I have 1080ti SLi.

Unless you meet the following requirements, you will not see full potential of 1080ti SLi.

1. Beast CPU

2. Game that has EXTREMELY GOOD SLi support.

My i7-4960X, which is OC'd to 4.6Ghz, is a bottleneck in some games that are CPU heavy.

But even when its choking, it still performs better than a single 1080ti, especially when you crank up resolution and/or graphics way high.
