You say nothing as there are no AAA titles but there are over 1000 indie games, most are lame, but the things outside of gaming is where it starts to get really cool.

I've owned a Vive for... getting onto a year now. Never had Rift so can't compare. Some of the above isn't really relevant. The battery in the controllers... I never ran them to empty but they're never ran out of me. Just remember to top up between sessions. Oh, it comes with two controllers and I'm not aware of any reason to get more, unless you break or lose one somehow.

Camera, what camera? I might have missed that. If there is such a thing, it isn't really needed.

Game bundle has changed over time and I don't know what's current.

I use mine with hi-fi headphones fine.

I've downloaded many, but not all, of the free steam VR stuff. Not got round to trying all of it yet. Many do feel like tech demos.

Controller weight - I never felt it.

The new trackers might lead to more interaction possibilities, but it is a bit early to say. Personally, I'd love to have feet in VR. Seriously. You can see you hands due to the controller, but sometimes I just wanna kick something...

I bought my Vive through another retailer for less cost so dunno how HTC's own site does. The Vive software was a bit quirky to start with but seems to have got more stable over time. Note there is also viveport which is their own store. They really need to work on that.

 

I think the biggest difficulty so far is software. It is just too new an area. There's scope for someone to do something more epic, but we're not quite there yet.

Oh, to add to my last reply on Vive, in cost terms, it is a complete out of box experience. You don't have to buy any more hardware for room scale use. I also kinda figured, if by camera you mean the lighthouse beacons. You get 2 out of the box, and that's all you need. I don't think you could use extra.

I have had both for several months.

All things considered the Vive wins, if you want to experience a wider range of VR experiences.

The Rift was sold a while back.

 

The tracking on the Vive is just simply better, and that really counts.

I would say don't put it off, VR really is amazing if you look hard enough. But consider it an add on to mainstream gaming not a replacement.

I own the vive (not tried others) i have to say some of the new games are really immersive imo it just depends on the type of games you enjoy i can read text just fine as long as i am directly facing it . i wear glasses and wear them while wearing the vive ( i have thin wire type frames). i have the trackers mounting to the wall and they work just fine .

It does come with headphones and they are not that bad to be fair, but i prefer my sony in ears, as for the hand controllers they are rechargeable so it is no big deal, a charge lasts a fair few hours or days depending on how long you use it for. There are a few companies working on wireless transmitters for the hive, i have not heard of any for the oculus (does not mean it there are none or won't be any down the road) Am i happy with it hell yes .

Forgot to add, the vive has a camera at the front that when activated gives you a little screen attached to your right hand controller when in the lobby of steam this means you can view the environment around you to reach for things like headphones drinks (beer and gaming goes hand in hand age restriction apply lol) this is a very useful addition, you wont realise just how useful it is until you use it.

I have an offer for a slightly used Rift for 325€ which is a steel from the guy buying my Pimax 4K. I am considering taking it since at that price is I'll probably be able to resell it anyway if it turns out to be unsatisfactory. About the same thought I had with the Pimax. What would you say now? Would you go for that? (Rift only, no touch controllers thought only 119€)

If you can re-sell it for no or little loss then yes sure, enjoy what Rift offers and then see what's what.

If Vive didn't exist, I would be more than happy using Rift.
