first of all moderators this is not a promotion if you feel it is lock this topic or delete it... but as you read in the title me and my father are starting a podcast...  whats some basic stuff we need (he has mics and stuff) its gonna be a gaming podcast and eventually a tech news podcast if something big happens any other tips?

Can't give you tips, but you doing a podcast with your dad sound pretty cool! I just wanted to say that.

Have you met him or his dad? They could be great. Being related does not need to impact the quality of the podcast.

How much are you willing to spend? I would probably get a dual-directional mic like the Blue Yeti so that you can both be talking into the same mic whilst sitting across from each other, which greatly simplifies all the inputs and audio mixing and all that, it'll just be one USB connection. 

Lenovo Ideapad 720s 14 inch ------ One day I'll have a desktop again...
