Are these temperatures ok?

These are the temperatures that I have been receiveing while casually playing Minecraft on my Macbook Pro. Is this normal? Also, sometimes the cpu reaches temperatures of 110C. This is normal right?

Specs? And just so you know, water boils at 100C, so 110C = :o

EDIT: And what software are you using to monitor it? I should get that on my 2012 MacBook Pro and see how hot it gets under gaming load.

Hey I had a Mac too and this used to be an issue for me. Honestly, there are programs out there that will monitor and cut back on your load if temps get too high. It shouldn't be too dangerous as I went to the genius bar and asked there, but still, if you plan to use your mac for a long time, I recommend cutting back.

Much signature, very sign.

15" display mid 2012 Macbook Pro. Intel i7, Nvidia GT 650M, 10GB ram (I know, stupid). That's all the specs a Mac really can have lol.

A that is insanely hot, I would get it serviced.

Also, it should shut itself down if it reaches 101c ... if its not perhaps the application is reporting incorrect numbers!

From Apple:

1) Apple's design is for the MBP to run a maximum of 90C stabilized under full load.
2) @ 95C Apple's system goes into full-cooldown mode (fully ramped fans)
3) @ 100C Apple begins throttling the system
4) @ 105C+ Thermal shutdown is supposed to occur

Idle Fan Speed: 2500 (70C). Minecraft Fan Speed: 1 min of playing: 2600 RPM (95C). 2 min of playing: 3500 RPM (100C). 3 min of playing: 3600 RPM (85C). These are very strange reading. Sometimes the fans don't kick on for awhile, or sometimes they run at 6000 RPM but the temperature is at 100C. Idk

That doesn't sound right at all, OK something might be wrong with your SMC, reset it

If the battery is nonremovable:

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Unplug the MagSafe or USB-C power adapter from your computer.
  3. Using the built-in keyboard, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds.
If you have a 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch ID, the Touch ID button is also the power button.
  4. Release all keys.
  5. Reconnect the power adapter.
  6. Press the power button again to turn on your Mac.

If the battery is removable:

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from your computer.
  3. Remove the battery. (Learn about removing the battery in MacBook and MacBook Pro computers.)
  4. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
  6. Press the power button to turn on your Mac.

I've already reset the SMC in the past couple weeks and this has been like this for months.

Reset it again, then google how to reset the NVRAM.

Bummer, it is getting very hot, what is the ambient temp in your room?

Have you cleaned it at all recently? Maybe some compressed Air in the top grill under the screen?

My ambient room temperature is about average but I'm not sure of the exact number. I will give it a good compressed air cleaning soon.

For the time being use it on a cool flat surface rather than a lap or a bed ...

Sorry wasn't of any more help.
