Gaming on the Linx tablets

J.Munslow
Go to solution Solved by Zando_,

Older games will run fine. My cousin has an Acer Chromebook type computer running Win10 (I forget their name for it, it's basically a nice looking 14" netbook), with a dual core Celeron, 32GB flash, and 2GB RAM. It runs BattleFront II (2005) just fine, and it'll ports do the same for any other oldie-goldies.

I recently ordered a small linx windows tablet (1010B) to use at college. the specs are nothing to shout about, Intel Atom Z3735F Quad Core, 32 GB, 2 GB, but it got me thinking..... This thing could be a great alternative to a Switch if i were to stick to some smaller titles or indie games........    Any of you have experience using these small machines for gaming and if so, are there any surprise titles you could get running??

Current Specs:

Intel Core i7 6700k

RTX 3060ti

32gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 3000MHz DDR4

Asus Z170 Pro Gaming ATX

Corsair RM850x PSU

Corsair H55

1TB Seagate SSHD

4TB Seagate Barracuda

500GB Hitachi HDD

256GB Samsung 960 Evo M.2

BeQuiet Silent Base 800

---------

Corsair M65 Pro RGB

Corsair K70 Lux RGB

Roccat Taito

Xbone Controller

Logitec Z333

Samsung SyncMaster SA10

I know @iamdarkyoshi had made a thread in the past about gaming on a similar tablet, but with Windows on it. The main game featured that I remember was Rocket League was ran alright (of course best with a controller added).

I suppose you experience would be similar, except with Linux added in (so game support might be less out of the box and I have no clue how Wine runs on an Atom)

It was rocket league on a chromebook, but you can run steam in home streaming on those tablets without issues.

Ooooh, derp. I read the title, assumed you meant to write Linux and my mind must've skipped over the whole Windows thing straight to the atom..

But yeah, Rocket League, pretty much the perfect kinda game if you can take a controller or two with you! (not sure how splitscreen would run).

Other games I would recommend you check out for a machine like this are Brawlhalla or Rivals of Aether (both Super Smash Bros. like games) or something like Towerfall.

not even close, those games can't really compare to Zelda, Mario, and other future switch titles. switch has much better gpu, cpu and dev support.

nope, it can't run zelda, Mario or any other exclusives, no dev support, barely can run games, battery life is crap, no accessories made for it, screen is lower quality.

Well, yeah. But I meant it can run games as well. Though the Switch would be a better console, this is also decent, and he can use it for his college/office work. And it's cheaper than a Switch. Also, I think he'd get some funny looks and possibly get in trouble if his teachers saw him with a gaming console in class. But since this runs Windows, it's prefect for surreptitious gaming durning an excessively boring lecture. One minute, you're blasting flankers in Battlefront II, or wasting your opponents in Rocket League (Is that what you do? I've never played it), and then the teacher comes over and bam! You're taking notes.

i would highly suggest you to avoid doing, paying attention is very important in school, especially if you go into something like engineering, most morons who played games during class barely passed with a shitty GPA.

we are comparing apple to oranges, for gaming switch is a much better gaming console, for work/ small bit of gaming a low powered windows tablet is better.

I'm kidding about the gaming in class thing. And you would be an idiot to pay a ton of moolah for college and then ignore what you're being taught. Probs why I ain't going to college!

I actually have a Linx 1010B and was able to get World of Warcraft: Legion running on it using an external hdd. Frame rate was pants and all the settings where on minimum (50% render scale too) but it ran and let my do my dailies when mobile.
