is it safe to unplug and plug in a led strip that is connected by molex from a pc that is currently powered on?

Yeah.

But molex connectors are pretty crappy so I wouldn't do it repeatedly too many times.

It's fine. The female contacts sometimes do not align with the male contacts and become pushed in the housing.

I wouldn't make a habit of it, but it's fine if you just need to test something a few times.
