I nee a power supply!

Xatris

I need a power supply for around 200 watts.  I would like it to be fully modular so that I could add different colored cables and I want one where the fan only turns on when it is needed so it can run in near silence.

I would recommend 600W as the absolute minimum.

What kind of budget are you looking at? You have a high end CPU, but a rather budget GPU so I'm assuming you are on a bit of a budget.

I have a 1050 Ti in my current build (before I build my new one.) You need at least 130 watts (I believe) to run the card. Say the processor is 90 watts and everything else is about 150. You should invest in at least 500 watts. Also, I can say that the 1050 Ti is NOT for video production, but it more of a 1080p budget gaming graphics card. You might want a 1070 or 1080, in which you would need somewhere around 600-700 watts.

Ummm What ? You dont need anywhere near that. For SLI configs you can use a 600w for any single card 500 is the most, the biggest area the cards have improved is efficiency.

@Op Get a better quality 450-500w and you'll be go to go for all upgrades.

I said for a 1070 or 1080. If he had two 1050 Tis he would need at least 260 watts for the gpus alone. A 1080 is what, 300 watts each? In SLI, he would need something like an 800 watt. Whatever.

1080 is 500w on a full system, so please tell me what exactly is the point of a 700w for his build ?

@Xatris check the MSI power calculator and the PCpartspicker one, those are very reliable.

1050Ti's don't SLI.

I don't want to plunge this into a thread where we evaluate your build choices, but it might be worth taking a look at Ryzen since you get more for your money. It would allow you to allocate a bit more of your budget to PSU.

I would recommend something like a SeaSonic M12II power supply, I believe they are all fully modular, are very reliable and might come with a fan-less mode (their fans are practically silent anyway).

Those are not always reliable and only give you an estimate at best. I typically look at the power rating that the manufacturer lists for their part, add 15-25% then add the powers together. I also make sure that I'm not exceeding more than 80% of the power supplies maximum output power.

Try taking a look at this list here.

For a X99 + GTX 1050Ti setup, 200W is a bit low. With that being said, grab a Corsair CX450M and you should be fine.

For one, if using Adobe Premiere there's hardly any video card acceleration from CUDA. Just having an Nvidia GPU will work, could be a GTX Titan or 750 Ti. Will work about the same.

Second, 600-700W is what would be recommended for two of each of those GPUs in SLI with a 6800K.
