What would I need to run these drives?

Hey, thinking about making a NAS

what would I need to run these types of drives?

Seagate Cheetah NS.2 SCSI 600GB 10K RPM

Thanks.

if you have to ask, 10K SCSI drives are probably not your cup of tea..

the brief in and out: they're old server hard drives, you'd need a system with a SCSI interface to hook them up.

xOnly reason I ask is that someone is selling them to me 38x for $200. They are all working, so I was gonna mess around with them but would it be too difficult for someone with zero experience with server related setups?

I don't want to discourage you but Googling what that drive looks like it has an interface I've ever only seen on a IBM mainframe manufactured back in 2003. This drive probably wouldn't run with any modern day software. That's probably why it's 38 for $200.

Well. If you like playing with neodymium magnets you'll probably be able to pull massive ones out of the drives. Cost you a lot though.

As for NAS. SATA drives can be bought these days in excess of 10TB. The down payment will be more than the SCSI drives but electrical cost will be far less in the long run.

Seems these drives come in multiple interfaces, if they're SAS then you could use them but it would be expensive for the controller
