144hz (BenQ Zowie XL2411) Monitor won't go past 60hz.

FalloutJB

Last month I got a XL2411 BenQ Zowie monitor for my birthday, I play a lot of CS:GO and I knew upgrading from a 60hz monitor to a 144hz monitor would be a great upgrade. I've had it for over a month now and it only just now occurred to me to check my display settings because it felt like it wasn't anything special over my other 60hz monitor. And ofcourse what I found was my monitor was running at 60hz. It doesn't have any options to go past 60hz, only lower, such as 20, 22, 24, 29 etc. If I loved my native resolution (1920x1080) to something like 1280x1024 I can do 120hz max, but I want to play at 1080p@60hz. I'm currently running the monitor through a HDMI Cable that came with the monitor, the only other port the monitor has is DVI, no display port. My graphics card is a EVGA GTX 1080 FTW. I don't know what to do, and it's frustrating the crap out of me ;_; any help and suggestions would be very appreciated, thank you!

Also if it changed anything, I'm using a tri-monitor setup, main monitor (the one I'm having the problem with) HDMI, one monitor DVI, and one monitor going through a display port to HDMI adapter cause the monitor doesn't have a display port, don't know if this changes anything but I figured I might as well include it.

The XL2411Z doesn't support >60 Hz over HDMI. You need to use a native Dual-Link DVI connection.

Thank you! When I get home from class I'll look into buying a cable, do you have any suggestions of the best dual link DVI cable to buy?

Any DVI cable is pretty much as good as the next, just don't buy a Single-Link cable by accident. Also don't try to substitute an HDMI to DVI or DP to DVI cable / adapter instead, it must be a straight DL-DVI connection to work.

I have an Acer monitor also at 144Hz, also requires dual link DVI, although mine came with that cable. Trust me, the added fluidity will blow your mind and can improve gameplay quite a bit. 60Hz after using 144Hz for a while looks like a slide show.

Would prefer to go get it today, so would this one work? https://www.walmart.com/ip/VCOM-VC-DVI6MM-VCOM-DVI-to-DVI-Dual-Link-M-to-M-Black-Cable-6/32782402
