AMD’s CTO Mark Papermaster, RTG Chief Architect Raja Koduri and Computing & Graphics head Jim Anderson will all join CEO Lisa Su on stage at the company’s headquarters in Sunnyvale to discuss AMD’s long-term vision. Vega, Navi and Zen+ cores will take center stage. This will not be a Vega launch.

 

No product launches, but roadmaps roadmaps and more roadmaps. And maybe some Vega details, although that's slated for its own event, most likely to be held during Computex.

 

What makes WCCFtech think May 16th will be "the" day? Well, there's one official AMD event on that date, namely the 2017 Financial Analyst Day: http://ir.amd.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=74093&p=irol-analystday . All the big names will be present (Lisa Su, Mark Papermaster, Raja Koduri, the lot), so they'll talk about something. If it's Vega or not, we'll have to wait and see.

 

But again, take this with a massive amount of salt. It's WCCFtech after all.

If its for the Business side of things, expect it to be a lot drier than normal.  But an updated Roadmap and, likely, a good hint at when they're launching Vega would make sense about now.  AMD has launched a massive new architecture in Ryzen and Vega is a radically updated GCN as well, which means the roadmap should be interesting, as they'll be on these architectures for at least 3 more years.

I really hope they show off what the 16 core Ryzen really is and when we can expect it. There is a 12 core one as well, so we can only dream what else is up their sleeves.   *Crosses fingers for 18 cores*

This is not too much of a surprise. With the stock drop they will have to come out to somewhat ease investors nerves of the future. They haven't had to much to show for in the largest portion of the market, that being the enterprise solutions, on both their CPU and GPU side. If they don't come out with something to show plans for the future then most investors will pull out causing further drop within the stock, which they cannot really afford at this time.

 

Please remember the largest market is not actually consumers like most of us on this forum, but in fact low powered solutions for basic operation and the top tier enterprise offerings.

It's odd how there so called may be news about Zan2 and Navi but still Vega in secrecy hmmm. Also Ryzen 3 and new APUs too. Bu none the less, if so will be very exciting to potentially get some info on those. 

Just need to see Vega released. I'm not in a rush but yeah, still want to see.

Not really news. It's merely "these things exist and will come out in this timeframe". It's for investors and partners mainly. We'll see some new roadmaps so we know where they're headed and when (and so the hype train can start to chug along).

 

Expect Vega launch at Computex.
