1080ti or Vega

I want to get a new graphics card, but I don't know if I should get the 1080 Ti FTW3, or wait for Vega. From what I've seen, Vega is set to outperform the 1080 Ti, but I've never had anything AMD.

What's your current specs? If you install it and find it bottlenecks your system horribly, then you'll be regretting your purchase. :P

Anything is a complete guess at this point. Vega could stomp a 1080Ti or it could get crushed by a 1080Ti.

1080 Ti owner here.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Vega thrashes the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. In fact it would be good for some competition.

But if it doesn't beat it, then oh well I guess :/

meh if everything amd does it probably be close but cheaper like they have done so far, their main attack point has been so far is to undercut prices

Because AMD has never historically charged you up the ass for a "high end" product.

AMD dropped the price to $230 after a few months because they realized they were out of their fucking minds.

It is safe to say Vega will not be better than the 1080ti, but it will have better price/perf.

Ofc this is not confirmed, but really, just look at the last years. I think history will repeat itself.

So if you are rich go for the 1080ti, if not maybe just wait.

Ultra is stupid. ALWAYS.

That's not safe to say at all. We really don't know much about Vega.

Oh, and AMD also has a history of charging up the ass for a "premium" product. The FX9590 launched at $900.

Well, that is safe to say. But safe to say is not equal to "this is really probable", becaude nobody can predict the future. I said that in a utilitarian way, because the OP is talking about a purchase. Theorycrafting aside, what I said is pretty valid.

What GPU do you have rn? If it's not too bad i'd stick it out and wait to see if Vega wrecks the 1080ti. I mean, I doubt it will, but hey, who knows. AMD might surprise us.
