This is probably a stupid question. However is there any particular goals to this convention? is it hoping to create something for the LMG community? alternative revenue potential? Luke said to Linus one day 'Hey, do you know what would be sick?' and there is no plan? or am I just thinking too much into something that is never going to be public knowledge?

Right now the long-term plan is very unclear. Short-term we want to experiment with the idea of live events, evaluate feasibility from a business perspective, evaluate interest from the audience, and see how we can really differentiate an event that we host from what's out there already.

At the end of the day, what we want to do is create an incredible experience for LTT community members to get together and celebrate this awesome passion that we all share. Will it drive revenue or profit for the business? Probably a bit, but by the time you factor in logistical costs like space & equipment rental, paid time for not only LMG employees but any outside help we have to bring in to manage the event, insurance, and any other fees associated with managing an event like this, it's unlikely that we'll see much profit from an event like this in its current form.

The initial idea was created very casually. One of those "hey we should do another meetup, but we need to make it way more awesome" kind of things :D

As others have said, it's Canadian. Converted to GBP, in the UK, that kinda cash gets you high end 1060 territory. You wouldn't get a 1070 for that much. I don't know if Canada follows the US system of not including sales tax, but in the UK pricing is all inclusive, so what you see is what you pay.

While there are a lot of people on here who have to make every penny/cent/rupee count, there are also not an insignificant number of people who can drop serious cash on hardware. If fortunate enough to be in that latter group, I don't see the VIP ticket cost as a major barrier if you want to have a bit more interaction with the LMG crew than the masses.

If it wasn't for the travel expense on top, I'd get that ticket in an instant. I'm not short on day to day cash, but it certainly isn't unlimited... it would be insane to visit just for a day, so let's say, I wanted to stick around and explore the area for about a week. Just roughly factoring in flights, and something like a Holiday Inn for a week, plus a bit on top for local travel, we're looking in excess of CAD$3000 or around US$2500. It isn't impossible, but it is not a trivial amount. I do like the LMG guys, but not quite that much.

one thing I forgot to mention regarding kids, do tickets need to be purchased for them as well or is there an age limit for children for example 12 and under don't need a ticket?

Flying in from Germany! (Well I had to fly out to Seattle anyway, so this is a nice side-trip)

EDIT: also VIP was supposedly sold out at first but was available later. Bought 2 tickets now (1VIP + 1 Big Package), forgot the shirt on one. Hopefully that'll be resolved later :D

@nicklmg It would be totally cool if you added a calendar event for LTX 2017 to your official calendar :D. I'm not sure if I can go, but if I can make it I am definitely gonna go. Hope it will be a great event.
