If you look at the two side by side, the Wii version looks awful by comparison.

The definitive experience is on Switch, but that's a lot of money for a Switch. See if you can get it for its actual retail price, which is also $300. I know Amazon is a bit of a clusterf*** right now, but if you live in the US (or any first-world country), go to a store and see if they have it for better prices.

Violates the COC here.

You obviously have very little understanding of what piracy actually is.

Piracy is getting something without legally paying for it. That means buying games from authorized retailers. Even if someone puts a game ISO in a dropbox folder, that's still piracy. If you pay $1 for a bootleg at a shady corner store, that's also piracy.

The only time it isn't piracy is if it's bought the right way (from the company or an authorized reseller), or it's provided to you for free by the company or an authorized reseller.

Well, depends if you will play other games upcoming. If yes, get Switch. If no, then just get wii u. Moving forward I think Nintendo will not be launching anymore games on wii u platform.

If you have WiiU games you want to play, then get the WiiU. If you don't care about the WiiU's library, get the Switch.

As far as I know, there are no official channels to let you download any Nintendo games to your PC. Therefore, it's piracy.

I've put over 60 hours into the wii u version, it looks fine, I'd say get the switch as it will have future support unlike the wii u

Maybe they're going "ew, 720p, play it on 900p you scrub"

But the art style of the game doesn't really lend itself to needing a higher resolution than what it already was designed for originally.

Piracy has nothing to do with the website you used, it's a matter of whether you paid for your copy.

Since Nintendo does not sell PC copies of the game, I don't think there is any method to obtain such a copy that would comply with the forum rules.

I have heard (second hand) that the undocked Switch does a better job maintaining the game's framerate than either the Wii U or docked Switch. I don't know if you value that as highly as I do, but that's my priority.

If you already had a Wii U and were on a budget i'd recommend that route however, I think the Switch version is better the graphics probably wont see much difference but supposedly the Switch version performs better and is less laggy but the biggest plus is the portability functionality to it.  Literally being able to pick up a console sized zelda game and take it with you.  That said I would wait and hold off on buying the switch until more games come out particularly this holiday season.  More will be in supply and prices will drop coupled with more titles available for the system.

Aside from the resolution, I don't see how the WiiU version looks like donkey turds compared to the Switch version.

I'd be content with playing either, but the Switch version is noticeably nicer looking. Just saying. If OP doesn't have either console, may as well get the Switch.

I still don't see it, unless Eurogamer somehow chosen all the areas that looked the same.

Honestly both versions are pretty much the same. The Switch version is slightly better mostly because in some areas of the game the framerate doesn't tank. The Switch version also, supposedly, has better audio. Beyond that the performance of the two versions are about on par. Which makes sense given it's a Wii U game that was ported to Switch and not the other way around. But with that said I wouldn't recommend buying a Wii U for this game. The Wii U is a discontinued product and Nintendo are not going to support it going forward

If you had a Wii U then it'd be a harder question but because you don't it's pretty simple. If you want to play BotW get a Switch.

  • 2 weeks later...

(US) Go to different Walmarts(or other stores, but this is what I did) figure out when their next shipment may come in, and then get there that night (mine was at 8:30PM) and get them to pull it from the back before it is even put into the glass case. Then woolah, you have it for $299 plus tax

I'd just recommend shopping around for a Switch.  300 dollars in this day and age for a Wii U is as much a rip off as 480 for a Switch.  Might have luck with the Nintendo online store?
