@nicklmg

I really question the $75 cooler on a locked i5 (and a $75 PSU when there are plenty of very good and much cheaper options).....that money could have been spent so much better.

Also, B150 board? Are you asking for trouble? Sure it will probably work, but it may also need a bios update.

Every LTT build guide really just makes me sit here and scratch my head. For under $1000 I can easily get in a 7600k+Z270 board+1tb hdd. And that's using a BeQuiet cooler, case, and and PSU that LTT chose.

Or I could have done the same as the above but swapped to an R5 1400 and upgraded the 580 to a 1070, also for under $1000.

True, like let's say... a 1/2 TB secondary storage. Just saying.

If it was budget, wouldn't it be a better idea to use the Pure Rock? Much cheaper and works wonderfully on a locked CPU.

Well, it's not a "generic" or "free" build guide.  It's a build guide within the constraints of Be Quiet telling them "choose a case, PSU, and cooler from us, then run wild with the rest".

Guys I'm pretty sure that a Ryzen 5 1600 is a better overall choice than an i5 any day of the week

motherboard here is $150

replace the heatsink with the GAMMAXX 400

You could even squeeze in an R7 1700 with a $100 motherboard, and easily with an R7 570

Sponsor builds are suppose to promote the brand but calling it "budget" and putting a giant CPU cooler on a non-K i5 makes bequiet! look more like...fools?

They can only use bequiet! parts as much as possible and their coolers don't support AM4.

I don't read the reply to my posts anymore so don't bother.

I suppose that makes sense, but from a $1000 build perspective it's pretty bad, possibly not worth taking the sponsorshop even since for the average viewer I'd say they're losing out not getting ryzen at the same price. Suppose that's harsh, but there's a lot of other companies like coolermaster/deepcool who offer the same thing with AM4 support.

uuh, the Pure Rock supports AM4 and so the Dark Rock 3, maybe the product pages are not updated correctly.

It's kinda sad to see that I have build a pc for 800€ (germany ain't that cheap) for my friend with a R5 1400 and a 4gb RX 580, all on a Asus B350 Prime Plus with only the only compromises being him only having a 275gb SSD and only 8gb of ram, but thats about it
