I have already ran into this with call centers. Someone called me about something and I responded sarcastically with your a dumb robot or something. As it didn't sound natural and seemed very predefined. Well then they said "Wow do I really sound that bad today". I felt pretty embarrassed as I just insulted someone. I said sorry and they repeated it again exactly the same. I said are you a robot. It kept giving answers evading the question and repeating the same original question after each with a filler to pass into it. I eventually hung up as I didn't know if it was a robot or not.

Well, my statement was based on the premise of "when do we give AI/robots rights similar to humans".  Not when do we let them take over.  If they want to take over I will be right beside you.  If they simply don't want to be slaves anymore, that's when it gets complicated.

Yeah, I think that I might actually support civil rights for a fully-conscious AI. The problem that I could see with most people is racism (I don't have a better word), and the fact that an AI would probably have an affinity for its fellow machines, possibly leading them to resent what they'd see as slavery of their less-advanced kin. I honestly can't see any possible way that robots could even gain citizenship status because of these things. It'll either be us subjugated, or them subjugated.

As much as I love technology... This is just weird to say the least to me, and harmful without a doubt. Human interaction with other humans is important to the health of an individual. I just see this causing more problems with falling out of touch with reality (anti-social behavior would sky rocket if this became a common place thing). Not to mention the implications of having sex with a robot, that is just beyond me why anyone would even remotely find that 'intriguing'. Also, what if the robot "malfunctioned" and injured/killed a human. Who is responsible? The company who sold it? There is just way to much to this that needs to be discussed.
