how to get camera footage to PC for stream.

So i have to set up a stream for someone and we will be using 2 cameras. GoPro Hero 4 Silver and Sony HDR SR11. i saw that i need something like a video converter to convert HDMI footage to my Thunderbolt plug. But everyone is saying that i should use BlackMagic Ultrastudio Mini Recorder but it is too expensive for me. Anyway to get something cheaper but same good? My laptop  ( HP Pavilion 15 n229sa ) supports , 1 HDMI out, and 2 USB 3.0.

Yeah, the Blackmagic unit is only $137, it's not going to get much cheaper than that. Sorry.

 

EDIT: Just googled your laptop model, what makes you think it has a Thunderbolt port?

You are going to need a capture card then you can use software like OBS or XSplit to record the footage on the computer
