EVGA 600 B1 80+ BRONZE 600W will be enough for a GTX1080?

Hi,

A store locally is selling the EVGA 600 B1 80+ BRONZE 600W (100-B1-0600-KR) at US$ 61.00, it will be enought for this?:

 

• i7-7700
• Asus H270F
• 16GB 2400MHz
• EVGA GTX1080 FE
• Seagate Barracuda Pro 4TB
• Samsung 960 EVO 250GB

They are also selling the 700W model (100-B1-0600-KR) at US$ 81.00.

Its enough power(the 600w) 1080s don't use that much power.

even if I add 2 or 3 hard drives, or maybe in the future a GTX1080Ti, will be enough?.

It'd be enough to power it but you'd ideally want a higher quality power supply unit to power a i7 7700 and a GTX 1080.

system in sig,i'm only pulling about 300-400w(400w absolute max i've seen so far) while gaming.

you'll be fine but i'd go for a higher quality psu

If you can afford a 1080, you can afford a good quality power supply.

It would be enough power but you really would want a better PSU with those high-quality parts. If you can get a 1080 and an i7 you should be able to get a modular, higher efficiency, quieter, etc. There are some really good PSUs out there that aren't much more expensive. Seasonic has some good ones.

In what way are a GTX 1080 and 7700 "cheap"....?

 

Anyways, as has been noted: you can afford top of the line hardware thus you can afford top of the line insurance against killing it, I.E. that EVGA G3.

While it could be biased here and there, the advise of getting the EVGA G2/3 550w or 650w is rock solid, it would be the best PSU to pair with a 7700k + gtx1080

I have a budget build with a 450w EVGA bronze and I got it to boot and run fine with a 7950. I think the 7950 takes more juice to run than a 1080. With that said a 600w should be fine but I would say go for 650w to 700w to be on the safe side.

The quality matters more than the wattage.

I once had a high end OCZ 700w power supply years ago. It sat in storage for several years. I put it in my system in my signature and watched and waited wondering how many days, weeks and months it would last before dying. It lasted a few months over a year before it died taking no components with it. The over under on that model was 6 months as they were known to be a defective model.

 

With that said, I am an EVGA fan. I think their power supplies are of very good quality and they have a 5 year warranty. I have been building computers since 2003 and if you saw the junk I have seen in the past. Computer components have come a very long way in quality over the last several years.
