Anyway to fix this?? or something I can do about it?

Dimmizer

Hello LinusTechTips,

Ok so the problem I'm having is I'm playing a game called "ArcheAge" you might of heard about it lol.. but ok so when I connect to the game I can play for a random number of time before I'm disconnected and after that I'm pretty much indefinitely disconnected. I can wait a little bit and it'll work again without any problems until the next disconnect and then rinse/repeat... I've been trying to figure out why I keep having this issue and I've been in the talks with TRION Games but they just can't seem to help me.. their support is just so terrible and before I really decide to throw in the towel because I genuinely love the game and I've put quite a bit of money into the game over the years.

So far I've done the following which was done by the request of support.

1. Reset/Power Cycle my Modem.
2. Add the game to Widows Firewall
3. Open ports TCP 80, 1237, 1239 and 1250
4. Make sure my DNS servers are to be chosen automatically..
5. Disable your TCP\UDP Checksum Offload

I had this same problem like 4 months ago where I eventually gave up and quit but have since returned. I've done a complete and full reformat with a fresh and updated install of Windows 10 Pro and still having problems now 4 months later. Now here is where things become interesting..

tracert with a VPN

When I connect to a VPN I have zero problems and can play just find but I do get a little bit of a delay because well I'm connected to the VPN of course... another problem is the VPN isn't mine I'm using a friends VPN which I won't always have access to.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now if I use pingplotter you can see here... https://puu.sh/vzBV8/153c3f5f68.png
That specific be-10925-cr01.sunnyvale.ca.ibone.comcast.net is giving me packet loss and there's times where I'm getting 50-70% packet loss..
is that the reason i'm having problems? and why it works once I switch over to the VPN? and is there a way to change the route I take so I don't go through those Comcast servers/nodes without a VPN or am I just screwed?
I have barely no idea about networking and things like that BUT it seems like Comcast is somehow making the connection to that game servers laggy or bad.
Since they don't know where you are connecting to when using the VPN they can't block it.
2 possible options imo:
- Go to another ISP
- TUNNELBEAR !!! (vpn)
Can't move to another ISP.. and TunnelBear will only give me 500 MB which I'll burn through in 1 day lol.
When I said that I assumed you would buy their rather cheap plans.
I honestly can't give you more advice because I don't know about it but maybe you can try and call the ISP and try negotiating with them or just asking if they are blocking it and why.
No money/job at the moment for a VPN which is why I'm temporarily using a friends but I won't have it for much longer so I'm trying to see if I can fix this before I lose the VPN. Hopfully someone with more network experience can reply and give some more insight..
Hopefully yes. I keep thinking that giving them a call wouldn't be a bad idea, sometimes it works.
Yeah I called Comcast and I couldnt get anything out of them.. I got 1 girl who said she'd take everything down and mail it to the network engineers but I'm pretty much not gonna get a call back... It's a chance but i'm not counting on it honestly.. I'm not a Comcast customer so what do they care.. I ain't paying them.
Well, let's wait and pray for that email to be sent and for your problem to be fixed.
