For a Laugh: Sheeple has been added to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, Apple user quote used as example

Had to post this for the laugh factor of it although it might be moved to off-topic...  The people over at Merriam Webster may not actually be Apple fans judging by one of the quotes they use in the definition for 'Sheeple'.  In an article at the Verge, it's been noticed that one of the quotes on the use of the word Sheeple is from a 2015 news roundup from CNN as follows:

http://www.theverge.com/tldr/2017/4/28/15473858/apple-merriam-webster-sheeple-definition-iphone-ipad

Quote

“Apple's debuted a battery case for the juice-sucking iPhone — an ungainly lumpy case the sheeple will happily shell out $99 for,” the example reads. It’s from a 2015 news roundup Criss published on CNN’s website, which Merriam-Webster seems to point to as a prime example of the popular modern-day use of the term. Sheeple dates back to 1945, according to the dictionary entry, most likely as a derogatory term for helpless followers of consumer trends of the time. Nowadays, however, it’s more likely to poke fun at blind followers of the iPhone maker.

Quote

Definition of sheeple
informal

:people who are docile, compliant, or easily influenced :  people likened to sheep

James Nichols, who ran the family farm here, stamped dollar bills with red ink in protest against currency and told his neighbors that they were “sheeple” for obeying authority like livestock. — Sara Rimer and James Bennet

Apple's debuted a battery case for the juice-sucking iPhone—an ungainly lumpy case the sheeple will happily shell out $99 for. — Doug Criss

As I said, it is kind of funny, although there may be some people who take this a bit too seriously...  On a serious note though to all the sheeple out there, any person can be a sheeple for any tech company, not just Apple.

I can see why they added the example since most of their examples are common phrases or usages. Though, I'm still waiting for them to make [an] example of "whoopie"...

They needed to add the word docile by a different name? Boring.

And on the other side, Oxford made a fucking emoji the word of the year in 2015. Not the word "emoji" but an actual emoji.

http://blog.oxforddictionaries.com/2015/11/word-of-the-year-2015-emoji/

We're fucked.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat
