Can I plug a Power bar into a UPS?

Hello all, I have a question. I have this nice 4000 joules surge protection power bar I am using. I just bought a UPS with surge protection, however the joules arent as high as my power bar. Is it okay to run the power bar on the UPS with only my computer plugged into it? Id like that extra joules.

You won't really have those extra joules if you attach the power bar to the UPS.

Daisy chaining surge protectors (which the UPS can be considered one) is not recommended: https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/34048/why-daisy-chaining-surge-protectors-not-recommended

 

The tl;dr is that they can interfere with each other to the point where excessive current goes through and negating the point of protection.

Correct me if I'm wrong, @M.Yurizaki, but I don't think that those joules are measuring power output, but spike protection.

For most computer setups, that's enough.

If the Joules rating is that important you should get a higher rated UPS. That said, plugging a power bar into a UPS isn't recommended, and since UPS's also handle power spikes the power bar wouldn't do much except let you plug in more stuff. So it's higher Joules rating really doesn't matter.
