Anyone running Mac OS Sierra?

I always take a while to upgrade to the latest version of OS X Mac OS, but this time it's exceedingly long -- I usually upgrade by around December. Anyway, how is everyone's feeling towards Sierra (on new hardware)? The biggest reason I haven't updated is because I read a few reports (around launch) where 'optimized storage' would turn itself back on after an update -- although, I'm sure those isolated cases were people just being stupid and not realizing they turned it on.

Regardless, here I am in April 2017.....How is Mac OS Sierra?

Nice, Sierra is a decent little upgrade. Runs very smooth on my 13" 2015 MBP.

You should upgrade. My 2012 non retina macbook pro (with an SSD in it) runs sierra quite well.

But for me it is a bit buggy. System preferences crashed on me for a few times...

Other than that, it is stable and good.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

No real complaints with Sierra after running it for about two years now. I always wait a couple months to update it in order to avoid potential bugs, but I do that with every device/OS.

I would recommend the update

CPU: Intel Core i7 8700k 3.7Ghz MOBO: AsRock Z370 Extreme4

RAM: Corsair Vengeance (4x4) Storage: Crucial MX300 275Gb | WD Blue 1Tb

GPU: XFX RS RX480 8Gb Case: Corsair 270R PSU: Seasonic Focus+ 750w

Monitors: HP 22cwa | BenQ BL2420PT  Cans: ATH-M50x

Does anyone use chrome heavily and rarely restart/close it? I have a tendency to run Chrome with at least 20+ tabs at all times (and several video tabs) plus probably about 200 tabs that I open/close daily and I've been having memory issues for years now. I have 16gb of RAM and when I first restart my computer and open everything up I use about 10gb of it, but after a week or so I'm using almost all 16gb and about 10gb in swap space (and as soon as I close restart my computer open everything back to normal I'm down to 10gb of ram and 0gb swap space). Obviously there is some memory leak or something similar going on.

Has this been fixed in Sierra?

I consider myself a heavy chrome user... but I never opened that much tabs before. I have (right now) 40tabs opened within multiple windows of chrome. And here's a screenshot of how much ram I am (chrome) is using. I dont know whether this is good or bad. And I have 8GB of ram only.

Also about memory leak, I think I've experienced something similar before. But the only time I truly run out of memory is when I am coding and with photoshop working in the background. It happened a few times, memory usage was 99% and swap usage was like 3,4 GB then the whole system was lagging as hell.. Other than that, I am fine 95% of the time.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

Yup. Most of the windows here have 7+ tabs on them. 590f47ee353fc_ScreenShot2017-05-08at12_14_19AM.png.632d0e8e96a0d5ac1ed26d373345ae19.png

And I normally don't shut down my mac... just put into sleep mode. Or just kill of the display.

However I did shut it down yesterday...

Also when chrome kills off battery really fast too... NOw if I have all the chrome tabs and windows open (foreground and background) my battery is gonna last 3 hours +.

If I quit chrome completely and just open one window with multiple tabs, my laptop can last 6-7 hours...

Battery capacity is at 96%...

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

I don't like how the tabs are beneath the address bar, but I also like how Chrome syncs everything.
