Noctua: Free* Skylake-X KabyLake-X upgrade kit

Intel's next generation enthusiast platform X299 is about to launch and to prepare for it, Noctua is giving out free upgrade mounting kits for those who have one of their coolers, but don't have the right kit for the new cpu. To get the free kit, just sent them a copy of your invoice and you'll soon get the kit in your mail. Most of the new cooler already comes with the new kit, since the mounting are exactly the same as socket 2011-3. It's for those who have older cooler, that might need to order it. There are some cooler, where it's not eligible for the free offer, and will have to purchase it.

If I could build any system right now, it would be a 6950x in a Node 202, so in a Node 202 I wouldn't have much choice.

They're probably not enough cooling for Intel's power hungry 140W chips.

They do like some of their 2011-3 Xeons, which only has a 85W TDP

You'll not the performance that the 140W part has in a processor at even half the TDP. Those Xeons don't count since the IPC sucks. Wouldn't really run it with a i5 7600K either though. OC matters.

These are server and workstation models, Noctua's free offer is for retail coolers only.

 

As for the L9i and L9i, there's simply no way you could fix these on LGA2011 or LGA2066 because the screws are blocked by the fins and you can not fix them from behind as on LGA115x or AMD!
