Amazon just announced the Echo Look, the newest device in the Echo familiy. It is a "style assistant" that will help catalog your outfir and rate it using our new friend AI, trained by fashion specialists. It can also take full length photos and show seldom viewed angles that you wouldn't be able to see from a regular mirror, so another way you can think of it is as a 'smart mirror'

The Echo Look first leaked as a “security camera” back in March, and the photo matches exactly with what Amazon has announced today. The device comes with a built-in LED light, a microphone, and a base mount for you to attach it to the wall or leave it freestanding. It will also work with a companion app that has a Style Check feature to compare two outfits and rate which is better. As an aside, the Amazon iOS app offers a similar feature under the Programs and Features menu, if you don’t want to buy the Echo Look. The Echo version of the feature gives you a percentage rating of outfits based on a mix of algorithm and stylist opinions, while Outfit Compare on the Amazon app picks which outfit of the two it likes better.

And like previous and the original echo speaker, you can ask it will offer all of the standard features such as telling you the news, playing music and getting you traffic updates. Amazon will also keep adding and updating Alexa skills for it.

The device appears to be Amazon’s way of expanding its fashion retail shop, as it will store your lookbook and recommend outfits that suit your style. From a fashion and lifestyle perspective, the camera could be a way to enter the fitness realm as well — soon, the Echo Look might have an app that could take daily photos of you to compare weight loss progress, for example.

And while it’s not designed to be a security camera, it does seem like it has enough components to double as one that could periodically snap photos while you’re away from home. We’ll check out the hardware on this more when we are able to snag a review unit. For now, if you do decide to buy it, it’s probably best to not get dressed in front of it.

The device is available for $199.99 but you must have an invite, which can be requested from its product page, to get one.

Do they look at brands you are wearing or just the look of them?

I hate those fancy jeans with them stupid flip pockets, or bling on them.

HAL9000 anyone? no? just me? just wait untill those leds turn red y'all shit your pants.

ALSO NOW GIVE PERVS THE CHANCE TO WATCH YOU CHANGE FOR $199!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 i mean people put sticky notes over their notebook camera's, but people somehow do trust their phone's/tablet's camera's. and now this. do people not see how big of a target this device becomes to hack? im not saying that it will be hacked but the compromise is just wayyy to big in my book, i wouldn't be able to justify recommending that to anyone.

As long as it tells people who wear flame shirts, fedoras, trench coats, or cargo pants to any of the aforementioned items that they look horrible then I am fine with it.

Actually, add socks and sandals to the list too.

I have a Fedora I wear once in a while (Usually with a suit), and definitely cargo pants/shorts when just kicking back. And I can't do "Skinny Jeans", my quads and calves are too big. I'd have to get a size 38" waist, and then they wouldn't be skinny jeans or pants, they'd just be abnormally thin at the ankle. I doomed to boot cut jeans, regular dress pants/swishy workout pants, and cargo shorts fashion purgatory :( .

There is enough youth in this world, how about a fountain of smart?

I had one that I wore ironically.

I mostly wear shirts, jackets, skinnies (but only like 2 pairs), jeans, trackpants (god damn, they're ugly but they're comfortable).

Normal shit.

idk

I'm rockin' Track pants (I call 'em swishy pants) right now, so I hear ya. Not ugly, comfortable, and you can work out with them, kick back on the couch with 'em, heck, they can pull double duty as pajamas. The versatility of the "Swooshy" pants never ends.

aye, just like my personal favourite, the onesie. it's literally the best around-the-house clothes ever. warm as hell (for Australian standards anyhow), comfortable anywhere, etc.

only issue - there's a zipper on the front, so you have to take the whole thing off to go to the bathroom. which sucks. cause it's cold in there.

idk
