Compared to NY, FL, and CA? Everywhere has downfalls, I just like how decently stable the laws are here.

I don't get this. Who flips the bill for the filter? The manufacturer? Because I'd be willing to bet most will just stop shipping their products to Florida and tell you to go to the next state if you want it. It'd be a huge undertaking to implement something like that.

There are more important matters. Like Energy policy, Infrastructure upgrades and Education. This is what happens when Old, religious fanatics, and Greedy bastards have power. Because thats what really is the problem. Also both parties can go straight to Hell. This is why we need the younger generations to start getting seats in Government. This way we have people that know how the fuck technology works.

No what we really need is to get rid of big government and government over-reach; it's nobody's fucking concern what i do with my own internet devices.
Also, the large majority of my generation's not as tech-savvy as you might think; sure we grew up with computers but beyond knowing how to use Microsoft Word, you would be hard-pressed to find a young person who knew wtf they were talking about too that didn't attend a few computer courses.
The problem here's not age, that's too easy; the problem is incompetency and government being ABLE to do this.

"A bill has been introduced to Florida’s state legislature that would require electronic devices to be manufactured with a government-mandated filter pre-installed."

"The bill also requires businesses to respond to reports of “obscene material.” Failing to do so can also result in legal action being taken"

"selling any electronic device that can access the internet, without a filter, would become a felony if sold to a minor and a first-degree misdemeanor if sold to an adult under state law"

"The bill provides consumers with recourse, however, as the bill does give them the option deactivate the filter. However, they must physically go to the manufacturer and request the deactivation. Additionally, they have to prove they are 18 years of age or older and are required to pay a deactivation fee of US $20"

Such BS, I would expect this move from California and I guess maybe Florida but either way how this is written is a complete stomp on consumer rights.

The requirement to go to the manufacturer for deactivation and a $20 fee is way out of line. Consumers will purchase out of state the devices they want.

Yeah Florida is out of their collective minds if they think this will fly with the public.

*edit

BTW this bill has absolutely nothing to do with Human trafficking.

Remember back in the early 90's when California wanted GM to build an Electric car? I think this is going to turn out the same way. The manufactures will bitch to the Feds and the Feds will tell Florida to pound sand. The same way the Feds told California to pound sand after GM and the Oil companies bitched to the Feds. Just a thought. Also, I see some First Amendment issues presenting here. How long before the ACLU gets involved and this shit reaches the courts?

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Lol

How would they even implement that? You can't stop someone from buying a product online, it'll be a waste of resources to try to make a state-wide network because you could just use a VPN.

This thing is never going to get passed it's not even worth discussing.  Any legislator can introduce any bill regardless of how outlandish it is, doesn't mean we should actually be concerned about it.
