1366x768 or 1920x1080 resolution for 18.5 inch monitor ???

WonkyBaby

Hi !

I am currently looking to buy new monitor. These are my PC specs :-

i5 2400

gtx 750ti

8gb ram

What monitor would be the best for me ? the 1366x768 or the 1920x1080 monitor ? I am going to be doing a lot of gaming so I dont want compromise on frames much. There is a $50 price difference between the 2 monitors. Both are 18.5inches. Is the 1920x1080 worth the premium ? I want to game on that resolution .

I hate the 1366x768p resolution on anything but 15,6inch 14inch notebook screens, but a 18,5inch is still too small to justify 1920x1080p so might as well as stick to the 768p one.

Besides you have a 750ti... playing on 1080p would make it bleed :P

Is there a noticeable difference between 1366x768 and 1920x1080 ? Will it be all blocky and pixelated when compared to a 1080p screen. I currently have 1280x1024 monitor (4:3) and looking for a real upgrade.

While there is a very noticeable difference in quality, image sharpness and actual virtual space the thing is 18,5inch is a very small screen size to justify 1080p, in fact I had a 22inch 16:10 1680x1050p monitor and I consider it to be excellent... so 1080p should only be aimed if you'll have a screen of 21+ inches to really benefit... if you'll insist on 18,5inches my advise would be cheap up going with the 1366x768p screen especially given how your GPU is not very strong... keeping the resolution smaller will definitely help it out.

Unless you are going to upgrade your GPU soon, I would not recommend the 1080P monitor... as much as 1080P looks great over 768P, you said you are mainly gaming and that 750ti is NOT a 1080P card

So basically what do you recommend for me ? A 21 inch 1080p monitor where I will play games at 720p and watch youtube at 1080p or a 18 inch 1366x768 monitor where I play games at 720p and watch youtube at 1080p. I am looking for a real upgrade over my current monitor (1280x1024) with a better experience and a noticeable difference. I don't mind paying for the larger screen size if the screen quality will be the same at 720p on both sizes. But the thing is that I heard somewhere that 720p will be worse on a larger screen since it has to stretch the image quite a bit.

I also watch YouTube quite a lot. What I do on my computer is 45% youtube and 55% gaming.

you can always buy the 1080p Monitor and run it at 768p if games are too demanding for your System at 1080

If you are not looking to play only at high settings then go for 1080p.

The 1080P monitor where you play games at 720P is your best bet, you'll get the best monitor of the 2, and have a nice gaming experience. though I am also recommending you to upgrade your graphics card whenever you can, to take full advantage of your 1080P monitor
