budget Is This $500 PC Worth It

The reason for this build is that I want to see how much performance we can get out of $500 dollars.

The most demanding gamas I will ever play are: Battlefield 1, GTA 5, Dark Souls 3, and of course basic tasks.

Battlefield 1 and GTA V are pretty damn demanding games lol. The 480 will run them well at 1080p... BUT, the Pentium will bottleneck it hard in the two games previously mentioned.

Got you a better PSU, SSD.

You should be fine for a little bit, but I'd recommend picking up a HDD as soon as you can for storage.

Also if you drop down to 2133 Mhz ram, you can save $7.

PSU isn't the best, since Seasonic S12ii's and Corsair CX450M's are $6 more and better quality.

For the 200 and 300 series Asus and Gigabyte were both bad for AMD, Asus seems to have fixed stuff and their AMD cards are actually pretty good, but Gigabyte ones still aren't great.

 

The Aorus cards are OK, especially considering the price, though they still aren't the best. I'm honestly not sure why

Only thing is, wouldn't OP find it more useful w/ a SSD, rather than a large HDD. Say reduce it down to 500gb or 250gb, Then OP can upgrade to a larger HDD when they get money?

idk, up to OP if they'd rather have smaller space now but faster storage or if they'd rather have more storage now but slower.

Hmm, wondering if it's something to do w/ AMD cards voltage regulations, etc. Since the same card (in terms of it being a g1 gaming card) have different reviews if their AMD and Nvidia.

True enough, ik I lucked out for my build and got my SSD for free (hence why it's 1TB, was gonna buy a 500gb). Makes sense though to get the speed now, since it seems OP won't have too many games to install.

I remember that I have an old 1TB HDD it may be useful. Also added an SSD and a cheaper memory. I think the power supply is enough due to I'm not planning to upgrade it, better keep saving

I would honestly for the $6 increase get either the Seasonic S12ii or the Corsair CX450M. EVGA does make bad PSU's, and yours is pretty low tiered, and is not good quality.

Also that SSD is a crappy SSD, it doesn't get good speeds for the cost,

Get rid of the Pentium. It's gonna bottleneck hardcore. Also, get a better PSU. The one you have in that build is trash

Yessir, worth noting though that they're still worth it when priced well. For example, I remember not too long ago, the Gigabyte 480's were selling for a little more than $20 less than ANY other 480.

Yes, it will. He wants to play GTA V, and he has an RX 480. That thing will bottleneck like crazy.

Post some proof maybe? It's not going to bottleneck at all. Yes, an i5 or i7 will perform better, but that's because they're better CPUs. A G4560 isn't going to bottleneck. Regardless, it's all he'll get within his budget. Plus, a G4560 and RX 480/580 will easily handle GTA V at high-very high settings with 60+ FPS.

 

He's also playing titles other than just GTA V. You claimed the G4560 will "bottleneck hardcore" but in BF1, with an RX 480/580, it'll perform within 10% of an unlocked i5, or locked i7.
