Ek dropped the ball on my 1080ti water block

I just got a 1080ti block here in Canada and was installing it only to find out they sent the wrong thermal pads, and the 1080ti badge and cover plate is damaged. WTF

 

The instructions clearly say that the ram and inductor pads are .5mm while the mosfet pad is 1mm, and my kit came with 1mm ram thermal pads.

 

This is not even the first time i've had issues with EK products, so this is pretty annoying to say the least. Great products, but there dropping the ball hard.

 

Anyone else have issues with EK stuff?

I'm not assuming there all like this at all. I'm just annoyed about mine, it should not happen. I didn't realize the issue until I put the block on the card and started fastening it down, and didnt like the flexing that was happening.  I could have broken an $1130 card. The damage is whatever, send me a new one but thermal pad size is a big issue. Super dumn

The instructions clearly say that the ram and inductor pads are .5mm while the mosfet pad is 1mm, and my kit came with 1mm ram thermal pads.

I am having issues with EK right now. I bought a gtx 1070 water block for my card and they sent me a 1080ti block. The block doesn't fit and they keep telling me its compatible. THE DAMN DVI KEEPS IT FROM BEING INSTALLED. The block doesnt have a cut out since the 1080ti FE is a single slot card. I don't have time to wait since I leave to the navy in 3 weeks. They are just taking their sweet time. I get one message a day from them. Its been 4 days and i still cant get anywhere with them and yes i know the black plate needs to come off when i put it on. This is just a picture i sent them and havent got a response

EK is HIGHLY overrated. Watercool and Aquacomputer make a better product in the same price range and their top-end products beat EK hands down in performance.

I use to buy thermaltake and bitspower stuff but had leaks with fittings after a few months.

as for thermaltake failed pumps.

 

ekwb I find reliable and no leaks in my last two systems. But yes the instructions are lacking I bought a 1080 when they were first released and a water block, I had to trim up my thermalpads as well due to being oversize.

 

they at least have a decent warranty.

Pretty sure the pads still need to be cut. Bought a block last weekend and it was the same as the block I got last year.

I have, after two weeks of messages they told me it should fit and they admitted they sent me the wrong block. I have now 2 weeks before I ship to the navy and it was not worth my time and money.

Yea, it seams EK's quality control has been very poor as of late. I dont personally trust them as a company because I was sent an AIO I purchased from them that was leaking.

They took a week to respond to me and once they did there were no issues, they replaced my cooler no questions asked other than this picture shown above. I asked them to test the cooler before they send me a replacement so I didn't have with this problem again (it was the final component to my PC build so this meant I had to wait 2 more weeks) they said absolutely.

I'm not sure if this was intentional or not but, this is what I got (water everywhere inside).

As you can see this one is leaking worse than the last one... On the block every fitting... it had leaked so much I could shake it and it sounded like a half empty water bottle. After this experience I cant do business with them any more. Thank goodness Amazon had a deal on Corsair coolers at the time which cost 1/3 of the price and did not leak. Also 2 day shipping!

Just reading at this thread makes me wonder what's going on with EKWB.

Luckily their support team is still great, so they should help resolve any issues.

Haven't had any problem with any pc component regardless of brand aside a fan that burnt out. Most seem to have back luck or cause them damage themselves.

In my case there was a recall... However they were recalled a whole year before I purchased mine in January 2017. I checked the serial #'s and it was in-fact a newer post recall model. In my case I stand by the fact it was poor quality control due to them re-releasing a defective product after a recall.

From what I was told by a shop I deal with locally is that issues really began since EK outsourced all there packaging and shipping to 3rd parties.
