Budget 4k Video Editing Rig

Hey guys, so my friend asked me if I could build him a pc for video editing purposes only. I said yeah, but his budget is US $800. I was thinking of getting him the Ryzen 1600x, but I just wasn't sure about the GPU. Would I need to put something pretty powerful in in order for him to edit 4k, or can something like a 1050ti be good enough for that purpose? I built a gaming pc for myself, but I don't edit videos, so I wouldn't know what is needed for 4k editing. I'll put a list of the specs I was thinking of below, let me know what you think.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 1600x

Cooler: Stock

Motherboard: ASRock AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4

Ram: 2x8GB  DDR4 (whatever is the cheapest at the time)

HDD: WD Blue 1TB

SSD: PNY CS1311 120GB or whatever is cheaper and reliable

GPU: GTX 1050ti

Case: Cheapest I can find

Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze'

Right now, the price would be around US $735.

Video rendering is mostly CPU, so you should be Ok.

nope, gpu helps alot for cuda gpu acceleration.

Open CL can also work if OP wants to go that route but cuda would be better for pure rendering rig.

Doesn't the 1050ti already provides at least sufficient enough CUDA acceleration? Provided his tight budget.

DDR4 prices suck and apparently will continue to suck. :(

Also for 4k video editing I am pretty sure 1TB of storage is not enough.

GPU: XFX RX 7900 XTX

Or just save for this time long and get a Volta card next year then he could even go with a normal 1050 ^^

to be honest,  for gpu acceleration it really doesn't matter much a 950 would have been fine.

Depends on what software he is using, buddy.

Drop the X and get a 1600. This means you get a good stock cooler (no one has pointed out there is no stock cooler for the X model) and direct this money elsewhere e.g. faster ram or better gpu

Oh crap, didn't realize it didn't come with a cooler! Thanks, that would have been pretty bad. xD

How about instead of the 1050ti, would the new RX570 or RX580 or even the RX470 be a better choice?
