What games should I be able to comfortably play with only four gigabytes of RAM?

Guest

I currently only have two sticks of DDR3 with two gigabytes of memory each. The board is an MITX with only two slots. The computer I am using now has eight gigabytes of DDR4, so this is going to be a side build. I want something small so I can take it places, which is why I am making an MITX build. I used to have eight gigabytes of DDR3, but I sold it to my friend for his old AM3+ build (which is crap, and I told him the extra memory wouldn't make much difference for him). You don't need to know all of this, sorry. The title has my question. Please just assume the rest of the build could handle everything.

Comfortably meaning 30FPS (preferably 60+) with minimal stuttering.

All of them. I haven't encountered any games that will flatly deny you access. I would stay away from BF1, ARMA 3, GTAV, and Black Ops 3 as these will use more than 4GB.

Well, obviously a game isn't likely to kick me out for having less RAM. I was just wondering what games might run better, or which games might not run well.

I think you should also include all the other specs and OS. Stripping some useless parts out of your OS might also help a bit. (a bit)

BF usually requires about 8-9GB of RAM.

CoD = 4-7GB depending on which engine is being used. Treyarch usually does a better job with usages.

GTAV seems to use 10GB though others see 8GB.

As long you have 4GB of memory most games will perform just fine unless you have a lot of background processes eating up your memory. Your bigger bottleneck will be your gpu.

I wanted you to assume all of the other parts were perfect and magical and can run anything, but here:

i5-4440

EVGA GTX 650 SC (1 GB)

EVGA 500W

I also keep my computers in very good condition as far as software goes.

Actually, probably an EVGA GTX 980Ti SC usually.

@ARikozuM About GTA V. The game would boot on my previous pc with a CPU from 2006. Had 4 gb of ram and a passive cooled GT 610. Game would complain about vram, and it was unplayable.

With my current PC, the game runs better. (low settings) Was using 1 gb of ram as vram with my APU (out of 8 gb total). Changed that to 2 gb towards vram, and the gameplay was alot better, although it left me with only 6 gb of ram. (game became very playable, although settings were low + offline gameplay)

What does using your SSd as Pagefile mean?

If you don't have enough RAM (or you do, but your OS is a cunt pain in the a$$), the memory that is noted as unnecessary will move to a storage medium for caching and periodic use.
