personally on the iOS 10.2 jailbreak so updates are disabled by default. Waiting for possible iOS 10.3.x exploit if there ever will be one.

I'm on 9.3.3, I don't plan on updating to 10.x anytime soon. I don't need any iOS 10 features or tweaks and I'm happy on 9.3.3. I don't even need to resign Yalu every week (iTunes won't work on my PC tldr reinstall Windows but I won't)

Usually when there's a jailbreak released, the jailbreak itself blocks the updates because if you update the phone while it's jailbroken you'll Brick it.. Usually.

You only need to resign if you reboot after 7 days. You can theoretically go forever on 1 signing of the application. 

 

Ive lasted over a month before. And I carry my MBP with me so its not like it matters.

I do know you only need to run it if you reboot, but knowing I have multiple tweak conflicts my phone reboots every 2-4 days (praise iOS 7.x/8.x only tweaks)

Also apps don't just stop working on Android because you either can't update the device or you did update the device. Both of which I've PERSONALLY had happen with iOS devices. 

(Although admittedly, it has been getting "better" recently)

Except that literally doesn't matter... I have a Nook Tablet running Android 4.2 and all the apps still work perfectly, and even without any updates, the device runs just as it did when I got it.

 

Except when apps no longer are allowed to work because you aren't on iOS 10...

 

 

 

 

NOTE:

I mean look. Ideally we'd get both timely updates, and updates that didn't fuck things up. But realistically we don't. Personally I'd rather have no updates and still have everything work, and update myself if I really feel daring than deal with forced stuff. Which is why I run enterprise versions of Windows 10, not home ones...

the second was was hardware failure, not software. Wifi is up for debate.

oh it happened right after i updated and the wifi one i had to reset everything 5 times a day it was super annoying

Wow America.. How long are you going to keep buying phones locked to a bullshit carrier? In NZ, we basically stopped that once we started using GSM networks, 'cause we finally had SIM cards. The only people I know who have a phone purchased from a carrier have it because their employer has a deal with the carrier, with contracts to replace the phones every couple of years. No one else does it, we all buy our phones online, or from an electronics store. The only carrier related things near my phone are the carrier settings, and my provider's app so I can monitor my usage and renew my plan each month.

How about you guys just straight up refuse to buy from carriers, and buy a normal, unlocked device instead?

 

Of course, that won't help manufacturers who don't bother delivering updates at all. That's a huge part of what I miss about my old iPhones; unless they were many years old, they were still getting all the latest software features. My Nexus is doing okay for it, but it still doesn't feel like it has the longevity of an iPhone, they keep going for years, and still get the latest updates.

Actually we've been able to get our carriers to unlock our phones since 2014(?). There was a big stink about the ordeal with customers wanting it, but the telecoms saying "never!".

My iPhone 6 plus isn't having any issues period in 10 it didn't have in 9 (do you have any data for this other than anecdotal evidence?) and the 4S wasn't any worse than it was on iOS 8 as per ars techinca tests.

Have used 4s on 9.3.5, it's so bad. haven't used it on iOS 8 before though.

People are more likely to complain about something rather than give a good rating. It's why sellers of any medium look for lots of good ratings since the chance of a "good" is lower than a "bad".
