What Car would you buy for $55k

If I was buying one and not building one, it would be an Alfa Romeo Giulia.

Image result for giulia

If I was building one it would probably some kind of Volvo, an older Viper, or some year Wrangler.

Sadly a Quadrifoglio is 72k in the states before you hit the options list, so that's out.

I don't know what's wrong with some of you, I did an hours commute each way in a mk1 (NA) MX 5 (Miata) for a couple of years and it was fine. Moaning about a lack of cup holders for fucks sake, or suggesting a DB9 isn't suitable for sitting in traffic.

$55k is about £43k and for that I'd probably go with a used Porsche 911, RWD with manual box

He might have just meant a standard Guilia

My choice would be a white R.S. 200 Cup and a Silver Hawkeye STI

Save myself £20k for mods and other stuff :)

Needs money for car parts :P

Definitely RX7, it's beautiful.

Or if I can't find one with good kms, I'd go for a BMW 135i. I'm a small car guy. This thing has a 2.5L Straight 6 with a turbo.

idk

you have to imagine what car would you buy when you think you can afford a 55,000USD car . (e.g. i think i will be an engineer,  30 years old , and i will be having a hour long commute to work .. when i can afford 55,000USD on a car . Which car would i buy at that point and why

For the price, with a good warranty, good customer service, longevity, comfort, insurance price, "sportiness", 4WD (if you want that), and size and turning radius; may I present...

2017 VW Golf R  (starts at $39,375)

or (for something bigger)

2017 VW Tiguan (starts at $24,995)

Biggest plus to these are they both have 4WD and are extremely cheap to insure (the Tiguan for me is around $200/6 months). Both produce ample power, around 300 HP. Both have the same turning radius (built on the same chassis). Both are very comfortable and their finish is fancy enough to be presentable, but not impractical. Moon roof option for both if that is your thing.

German design. Good choice. But I still like the old Mk6 R32.

Holy shit, it is a BEAST. They crammed a 3.2L v6 into the chassis and it goes really, really quick.

Something i could afford do drive daily. Hmm.

I do like the new Challenger GT V6 with all wheel drive. I'd be able to option it out real well for 55k and buy three sets of really good tyres.

Or i'd just spend it on my current v6 camaro. Throwing an LC9 ls engine in it. A strange rear end. A t56 transmission. Big brakes all around.

Some real good suspension. Dynamating the interior to hell and back and just making it real nice.

Saving the rest of the money so i could track it without worrying about if i break something.

55k would buy me a really nice classic over here. That's good condition 964 money. (Among a ridiculously long list of other cars)

At the moment, an Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio in white/blue or a Mitsubishi Evo X in white/blue.

And yes, I am very childish in terms of my taste in cars :P

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Bingo, I'm glad im not the only one to think so. Honestly it is the most well rounded car I have ever been in. Loaded at $42,000 brand new and electronic ride control. Its as American/Aussie as it gets. Too bad the rest of the population doesn't see it that way. It's quite unfortunate that it is the last year for it. It will be the last of its kind.

I wouldn't spend $55k on a car in my current situation. I'd keep my current car, make a few upgrades, fix a few things, and save the rest to pay for school.

A restored toyota fj 40 from the 70's. It was the single greatest car ever(even though it's kind of a truck) even though it rattled, was old, hot and couldn't go above 60.

For $55k, I would buy a new Golf GTI and use the remaning money to do suspension upgrades, get new wheels and tires, a modest tune, etc. The Golf GTI is my "dream daily driver". Extremely fun while still being practical. The Golf R would be another great choice, but the higher cost leaves less cash for personalizing the car to my liking, the insurance is higher, less fuel efficiency, etc.
