Entery level graphics card, but which one?

So I'm looking to buy a graphics card. Currently I have none. So thing is, I can get Asus Strix 1050ti for about 50€ less than a RX470. Is it worth paying that much more for RX?

I also assume i5 4430 won't be bottleneck?

1050 Ti would do well. How much does a 1060 3GB cost?

I'm from Europe, Slovenia, buying in Germany though. GTX 1060 starts at 200€ so about 60€ over 1050ti.

How about PSU? 420W probably won't cut it, huh?

420W is fine.

Well thing is that is some kind of cheap Chinese PSU I got together with the case. Will it be good for a while anyway?

It's never too early to get a decent PSU. If you get a good one, that's something you can keep using for many years. Let's say something with 550 watts from some reputable brand. 420 watts will be fine for the 1050Ti, but I wouldn't trust my beloved hardware with a wonky psu. There are really decent ones and they do not have to be all that expensive. 100€ buy you into the premium ones, for just under 50€ you can get one from corsair already.

A seasonic S12II might be a better option

Hm so I just saw they sold the graphics card I had my eyes on( it was B-Ware). So now I'm not in a hurry. Can we expect any discounts for the RX4XXX series since RX5XX is what, couple hours away?

Well we can wait and see. I imagine the retailers will be trying to dump stock of the RX400 series, so there will likely be a small discount.

So gtx 1050ti still the best deal at the moment. Got it,  will still wait a bit probably, I'm not in a hurry.

As for UK, I only know Amazon.co.uk, any other PC hardware retailer from UK?

Ok I kind of got from 1050ti to RX 480 because of discounts. But I can't locate any good deal and I have one fear, thermals with AMD cards. Both RX 4XX and RX 5XX series run hotter than Nividia. And thing is, I have a cheap case and I will not change that. Problem with it is that it only has place for 2 fans, one 9 cm on the back and one 8 cm on the the side. Will that be a problem for cooling? I don't think this case has particularly good cooling. It is THIS case.

Also your thoughts on GTX 1060 3GB? I can get it for a  bit lover than RX 470(570) and about 20€ more than 2-fan 1050ti. Worth it or not? It is Gigabyte Windforce OC.

The heat might be a problem with that case. My GTX 970 even when paired with my i5 4440 was causing everything inside my 2004/2005 ATX case to get too hot, and that was with; 2x 80mm fan (1 front, 1 side), 1x 120mm fan (rear) and the PSU (1x 140mm fan, PSU in the top of the case) providing airflow.

Edit: Cripes, looking through the images its got airflow that is worse than all of my post 2000 cases.

Even with my 4790K underclocked to 3.3GHz (which wasn't for long-performance became too close to the i5 4440 it replaced) the temperature of everything inside the case was too high-which sucked as it has the best water cooler support of all my cases, despite my newest cases (2013 & 2015) supposedly being designed for watercooling.

I might be an AMD fanboy, but if you can I would suggest getting the RX 470. I don't have one myself, but I have talked to many people who were blown away by the performance per dollar of the card. Your CPU should be fine, as it is still a decent mid range i5.

RX 470 is kind of not worth it at the moment. It costs as much as RX 480/580, 20 € less tops. Not sure if it is not better to buy RX X80 card in that case. But if they plan to drop prices to let's say 170-180€ I'm in.

Oh yeah, I didn't notice it was so expensive at the moment. Did the prices go up? I seem to remember it being significantly cheaper than a 480.

I think so yeah. It was cheaper about a month ago, at least basic cards. But those are now probably sold out and that's why prices went up.

If you have GPU power connectors coming from your power supply, there isn't really a use-case for the 1050ti.

While the 1050ti is absolutely the king of slot-power only GPU's, it gets pretty handily stomped by the RX 470 (which costs within $20USD of the 1050ti in the US).  Don't get me wrong, the 1050ti is perfection for dropping into a surplus i5 office machine, but the 470 is an entire performance tier above it.  My overclocked 470 is about on par with a stock blower cooler 480.

With sales sometimes RX 480's go cheaper than 470's, so just grab that, since pretty much any non-blower RX 480 will trade blows with the GTX 1060.

EDIT:  Didn't see your last post.  The RX 480 nitro will treat you very well.

SFF-ish:  Ryzen 5 1600X, Asrock AB350M Pro4, 16GB Corsair LPX 3200, Sapphire R9 Fury Nitro -75mV, 512gb Plextor Nvme m.2, 512gb Sandisk SATA m.2, Cryorig H7, stuffed into an Inwin 301 with rgb front panel mod.  LG27UD58.

Aging Workhorse:  Phenom II X6 1090T Black (4GHz #Yolo), 16GB Corsair XMS 1333, RX 470 Red Devil 4gb (Sold for $330 to Cryptominers), HD6850 1gb, Hilariously overkill Asus Crosshair V, 240gb Sandisk SSD Plus, 4TB's worth of mechanical drives, and a bunch of water/glycol.  Coming soon:  Bykski CPU block, whatever cheap Polaris 10 GPU I can get once miners start unloading them.

MintyFreshMedia:  Thinkserver TS130 with i3-3220, 4gb ecc ram, 120GB Toshiba/OCZ SSD booting Linux Mint XFCE, 2TB Hitachi Ultrastar.  In Progress:  3D printed drive mounts, 4 2TB ultrastars in RAID 5.
