Basic networking GNS3, I need some help :(

Rotterdams

Hi guys,

I am a beginner and I started today with some basic configurations.

See screenshot what I have done so far:

I cannot ping from the Admin/Router to the switch.

What I have done so far:

1-) Configured all IP adresses

2-) Used to no shutdown command for all devices

Not: all devices are on, on the screenshot they are off :)

When I use "show ip interface brief" It says that my VLan1 "protocol" is down, why is that and how can i turn it on? My admin pc and router have protocol on.

Can you do:

show interface vlan 1

You need to run this on the switch, after you ran it can you share the output?

Try running the no shutdown command on the VLAN 1 SVI. If that does not help then try setting port Fe0/1 on the switch to an access port on VLAN 1.

Alright, a few things. The example you're trying to create, would be much better on some actual equiptment. GNS3 comes up a bit short when it comes to emulating switching.

But the protocol is down because you havn't assigned the vlan to a port on the switch. But as I said, switching sucks on GNS3, so I don't really know how you would go about that.
