Monitor won't turn on when plugged into gpu

geek on fleek

I have a GTX 1060 and just got it yesterday, the gpu fans got really loud and then my monitor connection was cut off. This happened multiple times and every time I had to power off my computer by the button. Now, my PC turns on but the monitor does not post, it's on, but not recognizing that it's plugged in. Any help?

I think you got a faulty GPU. May be overheating.

Also I don't think it was overheating. I had the same idea but I loaded up a game with my fans pretty high and put the msi afterburner overlay and I was getting normal temps, like 40-60 degrees

Check the cable. A bad cable would result in the stuff you're seeing.
