Playing PS1 with HDMI?

What's the best way to play PS1 on my HDMI monitor? (and don't say buy a ps3/ps2)

Will buying a playstation RGB scart cable, then connecting that to a scart to HDMI converter work well?

it will work, but because PS1 only support analog video and HDMI is digital, there will be a conversion which can add things like latency or artifacts.

If you use a moderen active Analog to Digital (Scart->HDMI) the delay will be around 1ms, and depending on your moderen tv it will be as low as 5ms or lower, or as high as 200ms depending on the quality. All in all, it wont really matter. If you use the converter, and its not a trash one, you should be just fine

Just get an adapter unless you think that every ms matters

The only reason I'm here is that I have homework that I don't want to do

That adaptor won’t be any good as it’s the wrong way round. It’s HDMI input to SCART output for older tvs. You need one the other way round.

Another option, if you're looking to go to HDMI, is to just emulate the PS1. Any computer made within the past 15 years should be able to easily emulate the games and render the polygons in at least 720p. Anything within the past 10 years should be able to handle PS1 emulation at Full HD or even 4k. It's even theoretically legal if you run the CDs themselves if your computer has an optical drive.

PS1 games with visuals so sharp you can cut steel. It's hilarious to see.

Get a PS3

The 4 Doesn't support PS1 format disk no more (tried it a minute ago).

But then again, I wouldn't recommend either of those things!

What I would recommend is to go to the next goodwill or so and look for a cheapish Analogue 4:3 TV if you want to use the original PSX.

The other alternative would be to go for PSX Emulation.

Any other way looks like shit. Even PS2 Games do...
