Ryzen CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT (BSOD) Windows 10

Go to solution Solved by Michael Boniface,

GUYS

My RAM wans't on the compatibility list and screwed everything up. Got some compatible sticks, all is well now!

I have the same Motherboard and the Ryzen 1600. I had the same problem too. All you have to do is to install the updated version of windows. Use the media creation tool of microsoft.

lower ram clockspeed

Ryzen officially supports up to 2667, so that's not the problem.

This might sound noobish but how do i properly mount the cooler? I pushed the cooler until the screws stopped, as I didn't want to force it and it came with pre-applied thermal paste. Can I lift the cooler and re mount it without more termal paste? Its running 35-40 idle, and 64C while running CPu-Z stress test (roughly 40mins).

Ryzen has a high idle temp if it's overclocked because it doesn't downclock

I'm also getting weird hangs and BSOD on my new ryzen build. Mostly kernel security check failure BSOD. Not sure if that's also related to memory as it is not on the QVL list of my motherboard. Also getting applications getting blocked from using graphics card.

I'm getting errors even before OC with everything set to auto.

My system:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 + stock cooler

RAM:Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2x8 (CMK16GX4M2A2400C16)

MB: Asrock AB350M PRO4

GPU: Zotac Gtx 1050

Power supply: Corsair CX450M (new version)

SSD: WD blue 250GB ssd

Hi guys.

So I've bought AMD Ryzen™ 7 1800X. I installed it on a configuration with Windows 10 that contains all updates including creators update.

On this installation Ryzen works flawlessly (both overclocked to 4 ghz and standard).

I've also tried to do fresh install on my second drive. And here I've encountered CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT BSOD.

It just happens after few minutes of Windows running. Sadly not enough time to install updates.

Some things I'll try to do and recommend:

1. Pre download creators update on my working Windows instance (not sure if its possible)

2. Find fresh windows build. I've tried to use https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-10-enterprise. But for some reason it failed to boot. But you maybe in better luck and thanks to that you can make sure your CPU is not flawed.

3. Trying to install updates in Safe mode.

What else.. Ah. Make sure you have fresh chipset drivers installed.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows 10 - 64

Edit (SOLVED):

I resolved my issue with CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT by creating Windows Installation media from my existing Windows instance with latest updates including Creators Update. After that, no more CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT BSOD exceptions.

I have the same issue using windows 10 pro 64 bits.Never installed enterprise version. My processor is the Rysen 5 1600, my mobo is Asus Crosshair VI Hero and I also have a Radeon RX470. Just 4Gb DDR4 memory.
I tried memtest and other memory tests and all came ok. I changed my Hard Drive and installed windows again and the problem continuous. I installed the mobo drivers, than uninstalled.. problem continuous.
It's my first game computer and i can't stay more than 10 minutos on. It frozes and than the blue screen appears with the message clock watchdog timeout. I have no overclock or else. I'm desperate.. don't know what to do. I really need it to work as well. I don't even know if it's hardware or software this problem.
Someone knows what else to do?

It is more fault on the shitty Tomahawk than the memory... glad you got it sort out regardless.

Similar issue, Motherboard is ASUS Prime B350 Plus, w/ Patriot Viper Elite Series DDR4 8GB (2x4GB) 2133MHz Kit -PVE48G213C4KGY, CPU is Ryzen 3 1200 and i get this BSOD whenever i try to retrieve files over a network or when i try to update windows via the media creation tool.

Trying various things to see if it can work, ASUS says the Ram i have is not compatible, but this article says otherwise.. ( AnandTech.com )

I'm thinking ASUS knows their stuff on this one...

Update: So like many others I've installed a fresh version of Windows 10, not an old retail copy i had laying around, and that resolved Windows 10 not being up to date, but unsure if any other conflicts are lurking, need to do more testing. I already ran cinebench three times, and everything is working good so far. Forgot to mention i updated the bios after i installed (old retail) windows 10, which was when i started getting problems. Anyways, back to more testing.
