Some buying advice needed for overseas buying

So to begin, I am looking to buy a new laptop from the USA and get it to India via a relative. Anyone have any idea on things I'd need to know? Or someone who's done this overseas thing before? Preferably India?
Also this is the laptop I've currently picked out. Comments and recommendations on an alternative(if one) will be appreciated.

I woudnt do it because with customs you might get stuck for a couple of months.

Couple of months? I've never heard about that happening before! What's that about?

Don't keep it in the box. Or it's a "new" product. And applicable to customs tax. Take it out and put it in your suitcase like a regular laptop. Now its a personal item. You can avoid declaring it this way (note this is technically illegal, but 100% impossible to enforce because customs cannot simply claim it's a new laptop).

I did think of that myself and I will keeo it in the box but in an unopened box, I once got a phone that way. But since that was way smaller, I was mildly anxious..
