Missing Pins

I just got a i7 2600k and motherboard free from my school. I was wondering if the CPU socket (where you put the CPU) is supposed to be missing pins? I pretty sure it isn't so I think board is dead

Are you talking about the out of place part on the top? Or the middle?

it depends on the what the pins go to but if you have a CPU it doesn't hurt to try

Just try and find out no harm can be done, also lucky you finding a 2600k with a motherboard from school too. What was it used for? Surpised they have that type of cpu, I usually only fine i3 or i5

It was in storage, the teachers know that the school scraps everything for free, so one of them put it in the storage, the IT guy let me have them
