UPDATE: LAUNCHED OFFICIALLY, REVIEWS ARE OUT. The RX5xx lineup has leaked in its entirety, launching April 18th (Polaris Refresh)

Looking at the comparisons even off AMD's own pages, it looks like the RX 550 should slot in around the R7 360/GTX 750 range for results.  That ain't bad for a card that should have an HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.4 ports on it.  This means it's a massively future-proofed card, which can (because it is a 4th Generation GCN chip) hardware accelerate 4K video.

I see why this card exists.  It's pretty much all anyone will need for a computer GPU for the foreseeable 5-7 years, if you're not gaming. Expect to see "rebrands" of this chip by AMD for a very long time.

Now I just have to hope someone makes a half-height version.

Oh, and it appears the "announced release" was the 18th.  Actual cards release the 20th, which explains the strange lack of listings and spec sheets.  I thought something was weird. (Like why they weren't on manufacturer websites yet.)

Will they stop the production of Rx 400 GPUs?

Yes and no. You probably wontnbe abl to buy a 4xx gpu once stock runs out, but 5xx is literally the same thing.

The stock fans are black, with the limited edition having additional transparent fans, where you can swap them out. The pic shows the swapped out transparent fans. The fans uses contact pads without any wires, but changing them looks to be a pain in the ass, not like XFX version of it.

It is not the fans that give the look (although it "helps" greatly), it is the fugly shroud.

Graphs at 49 minutes, if anyone cares.

I'm mostly looking at this from a business perspective, but the RX 550 makes a lot of sense as the "end" of the GCN architecture.  This GPU can do enough, even at 8 CU, to cover everything but recent-tier games.  Going beyond 4K TVs isn't going to happen soon (if ever). HDR is supported and all of the associated needed HDMI & DP standards to do practically anything that'll ever be needed to display non-game content for possibly decades.  It's a budget-level CPU that's hit "sufficiency" for all of your non-gaming needs.  That's both cool, because it means costs will rapidly come down in this area of computing over the next 5 years, and a little sad because it means actual development in this area is mostly done.  (This is the same reason you have a Smartphone: necessary minimum was reached, efficiency simply made it more practical over time.)
